'Happy Days' stars Henry Winkler react to Tom Bosley death

Bosley, who died Tuesday at his home in Palm Springs at age 83, is set to be buried in a private funeral in Los Angeles on Friday.
Director Ron Howard, who played Richie Cunningham on the show, told TMZ: “I'm so saddened by the loss of our wonderful Tom Bosley. Remarkable on so many levels, Tom's insight, talent, strength of character and comic timing made him a vital central figure in the Happy Days experience."
Henry Winkler, otherwise known as “The Fonz,” echoed Howard’s sentiments to the site. “Tom Bosley was our mentor. He was a true artist ... a great husband, and a fabulous father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten." He also told E News, "We were a make-believe family for 10 years, and like a real family for over 30. He will be so, so missed."

Marion Ross, Bosley's wife, Marion, on the show, told the Associated Press: "He was my husband for ll years and the father of the company in many ways. He was so smart he could fix the end of a joke or a scene on the spot. We made a perfect couple. I played picolo to his tuba."
Scott Baio remembered Bosley to his followers on Twitter. “Mr. Tom Bosley will be missed by many. He was a great actor, teacher and man.”
Henry Winkler, who co-starred with Tom Bosley in the 70s hit sit-com, 'Happy Days,' has become the latest actor to honor Bosley, who died Tuesday at 83.
Mr. Winkler played 'The Fonz,' the macho biker with the big heart and the foil for Bosley, who played Howard Cunningham, a mild-mannered father figure who served as an iconic anchor for the series during its 10-year run.
Winkler told TMZ.com that "I saw him before I ever got to Hollywood or Broadway. He was a true artist. A great husband, and a fabulous father and grandfather. He will never be forgotten."
Winkler is the second Hollywood star to commemorate Bosley. Ron Howard, another star of the series who went on to a successful career in film direction, honored Bosley with a statement Wednesday."He had that wonderful, sprite-like energy of his," Winkler says. "It was apparent on the phone when I spoke to him three weeks ago, it was apparent when we saw each other a year ago, it was apparent when we saw each other before that."

T.J. Lavin In A Coma After Bike Accident

Family and friends of T.J. Lavin received good and bad news this week as the BMX rider continues to suffer the consequences of a stunt gone wrong at the Dew Tour Championships last week.
While doctors diagnosed Lavin as suffering from pneumonia, a common problem for patients with breathing tubes, the medical staff at Las Vegas' University Medical Center determined that the athlete likely does not have any brain damage, according to People.com.
“Doctor’s are not expecting any [brain damage],” TJ’s friend and business manager, Chas Aday, told People magazine on Tuesday. “We’re just not going to know until he wakes up if there is any loss or how bad it is going to be.”
The 33-year-old “Real World/Road Rules Challenge” host, who has reportedly been kept in a medically induced coma since suffering an orbital fracture on his eye and a fractured right wrist in the accident, is now also battling pneumonia (most likely caused by the breathing tube that is helping the injured rider breathe while sedated), according to the mag.
The development of pneumonia has reportedly delayed surgery on TJ’s shattered wrist, but Chas said the star’s prognosis is still positive.

“He’s responding well,” Chas told the mag. “He’s squeezing our hands, so he’s responding appropriately. … He is coherent, but not fully awake. He’s following simple commands.”
In a separate interview with People, TJ’s mother, Barbara Lavin, said it was “killing” her to see her son like this.
“It’s very hard to see him like that. He doesn’t know where he is,” she told the mag. “I’ll say, ‘Mom’s here, squeeze my hand,’ and he will sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. He knows when Mom is here, he knows when his girlfriend is here. He squeezes her hand. It’s not all the time.”“It’s killing me,” she said of her son’s condition.
"I'm good," she told PEOPLE on Tuesday, five days after her son was put in a medically induced coma after crashing his BMX bike in Las Vegas. "Last night, not so much, but we talked to the doctor, and he made me feel so much better."
TJ was diagnosed with pneumonia on top of his crash injuries, but the antibiotics seem to be working. "He seems to be a little better," Barbara said. "His oxygen rate is a little better. The doctor was so reassuring."
But make no mistake: "It's killing me," she said of her son's struggle.
"It's very hard to see him like that. He doesn't know where he is," she said. "I'll say, 'Mom's here, squeeze my hand,' and he will sometimes. Not always, but sometimes. He knows when Mom is here, he knows when his girlfriend is here. He squeezes her hand. It's not all the time."
Aside from being Mom, Barbara is also acting as gatekeeper to her son's hospital room. And while she jokes that too many people are seeing the MTV host – or interested in seeing him – she's not surprised about the outpouring of support.
"He's got friends from all walks of life," she said. "He's got friends from the business community. He's got friends from the biking community. He's got friends from television. He would never burn anybody. He has a very high moral code. And I'm not saying that because I'm his mother. If I didn't think that, I'd tell him in a heartbeat."

Hilary Swank & "Conviction" Movie Review

Double Oscar Winner Hilary Swank actually looked like an Oscar statue when her movie Conviction had it’s premiere during the London Film Festival.
Hilary, who has the Best Actress gold statuette for her roles in Boy’s Don’t Cry and Million-Dollar Baby, could even be up for a third Oscar for her role in this movie.

Conviction is a gripping drama and Hilary plays an unemployed single mother who spent years earning a law degree so she could defend her brother who was wrongly convicted of murder. It’s like a more serious Erin Brokovich and Swank’s ragged appearance as a single mother in the film is in stark contrast to how she walked the red carpet at The Vue West End in London’s Leicester Square for the premiere.
When reporters on the red carpet quizzed her about whether she wanted a third Oscar, she was modest.

“The idea of even having an Academy Award is something I’m really grateful for and quite in awe of and humbled by,” the down-to-earth actress said. “I just tell stories that challenge me as an actor and as a human being, and Conviction was certainly that challenge.”
The couple are being coy but with Hilary looking so hot then John needs to get a ring on it and preferably one in the same colour as her dress…or in platinum.
For a dress with the ultimate wow-factor try a Love Label pleated goddess maxi dressOr for a similar gold dress of a shorter length you can’t help but be amazed by the striking Rare metallic one shoulder dressAnd for a gold dress with the ultimate shine, the Vicky Martin twinkle sequin backless dress has thousands of sequins plus a very sexy open back – perfect for those Christmas parties!Get ready to see Hilary tackling more juicy roles very soon. She’s already filming The Resident, which follows a young doctor who is being stalked by her landlord.

The 40-year-old actress loves the story of her character Betty Anne Waters - a single mother who despite never finishing high school, puts herself through law school whilst working as a waitress to prove her brother Kenneth had not committed the murder he has been jailed for - but struggled to believe it actually happened.

David Schwimmer Married This Past June

Word just arrived today that former “Friends” star David Schwimmer was wedded to British photographer Zoe Buckman this past June – and he neglected to inform the media. According to sources, the ceremony was very private and subdued. The source, a representative of the actor, divulged no further details. In the wake of Courtney Cox’s split from her husband of 11 years David Arquette, it seems that another member of the “Friends” cast has made headlines- this time for getting married.
David Schwimmer tied the knot with his British girlfriend: photographer Zoe Buckman. The couple reportedly met in London where Schwimmer was directing his 2007 comedy “Run Fat Boy, Run”.
Sheknows.com reports that David met Zoe in the West End’s Cuckoo Club where she was working as a waitress. When he returned to the States, she followed, and they began dating.
Most of the details of the courtship were kept out of the public eye, although David did announce the low key couple’s engagement in March of this year.
They were later wed in a private ceremony in back in June. They somehow managed to keep the marriage a secret for four months until a rep confirmed it to People Magazine.
Unfortunately, the happy news was released the same day that fellow “Friend” Courtney announced her separation.
Kind of cool to have "We've been married for a few months but didn't blab about it" news come along in the wake of the "We've been separated for a few months but didn't blab about it" word from David Arquette and Courteney Cox, Schwimmer's former "Friends" castmate. The 43-year-old actor proposed to photographer Zoe Buckman, 25, in March - and the pair managed to exchange vows away from the spotlight this summer.Schwimmer's representative has confirmed to EOnline.com the couple wed at a private ceremony four months ago.
The pair met when Buckman was working as a waitress at a London restaurant, while he was in the city filming his 2007 movie "Run Fatboy Run."
The news comes just after Schwimmer's former "Friends" co-star Courteney Cox announced she had separated from husband David Arquette, potentially ending their 11-year marriage.

Napoleon Dynamite is going to become an animated series

A cartoon series based on the 2004 comedy film Napoleon Dynamite is in the works and the original cast members, including main actor Jon Heder, are reportedly set to voice their former characters.THE FOX network will air an animated series based on the 2004 indie comedy film Napoleon Dynamite next season.
Jon Heder, who played the title role in the movie about a bullied teenager and his friends in rural Idaho, will provide the character's voice in the series, and the rest of the cast will reunite to voice their characters, Deadline.com reports.
The series was written by Jared Hess and Jerusha Hess - who co-wrote the movie, with Jared Hess directing - and "The Simpsons" executive producer Mike Scully. All three are executive producers on the series.
Fox ordered six episodes of Napoleon Dynamite, as well as seven episodes of another new animated series, Allen Gregory, about a world-famous seven-year-old adjusting to normal life at an elementary school.
It seems only natural, but the network that has changed Sunday night into nothing but primetime animation is turning Utah film favorite "Napoleon Dynamite" into a TV series.
Fox has ordered six episodes of the new animated series, which will feature the movie's original cast for the voices, including star Jon Heder, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The "Napoleon Dynamite" series will be voiced by the original cast of the film, and the original writers and directors, Jared and Jerusha Hess, adapted the movie for television with the assistance of Mike Scully, a veteran of "The Simpsons." So far, though, Fox has only ordered six episodes of the series, something Deadline claims is frustrating to the producers of the show.

Bristol Palin on 'Dancing with the Stars' pokes fun at mother, Sarah Palin

Despite her bedazzled booty shorts, the "Umbrella"-laced routine was about as gloomy as the rainy day accessory being sung about. Bristol brings no fire to her performances, there is no intensity in her eyes and finally the judges put her on blast for it by sticking her with the night's second lowest set of scores.
Coming in last was once again The Situation (who Bristol has been battling with all season for worst dancer honors) -- his Argentine Tango was sloppier than any boozy behavior captured by the "Jersey Shore" cameras. I love that by this point, Karina Smirnoff knows she can't rely on him so all her routines involve dancing around him.

The "Dancing with the Stars" stage has become a 360-degree shakespearean pit and you know what that means, guys! It's acoustic week! Apparently that means no one can land their moves anymore and ABC is all up in arms because they are now scoring for technique AND performance - a double score showdown! Ooooh! Please.
Oh, finally, The Situation has his abs out. He's fist pumping -- he's such a cheese. Guess he thought he'd resort to the old charm to maintain his precarious standing. Apparently Bristol is getting all sexy this week too, which looks like it involves some stripping as she's wearing a bulky white button down shirt with sparkly black thingy beneath.Kurt Warner is dancing the rumba to celebrate his 13th wedding anniversary. He and Anna are trying to infuse the dance with sexiness but he won't put his hands on her hips because he's a "Christian guy." Dude, she's not asking you to make out with her in the closet. Plus, without make-up, Anna looks rough, so it's not like he can't help himself.

The duo's significant others show up to make sure they don't trip and start making babies together. Kurt's wife looks a bit displeased, then reveals it's because it reminds her of when they first dated and Kurt kept looking for someone better. Ouch!

During the dance, Kurt still looks stiff but he's got some good hip action going on. Len thought his posture was over the top but that the romantic side was well done. Bruno had trouble with his movement and the lack of chemistry. But Carrie Ann loved it. "Chemistry isn't all about raunch, Bruno," she said.

Technical: All 5's
Performance: Carrie 7, Len 6, Bruno 6

Brandy doesn't feel sexy because she hasn't been with someone in six years. Say what? Maks takes her to a bar to be romantic -- flowers, wine, chocolates included -- but nit picker that she is, Brandy says he needs to be more convincing. Um, six years is looking pretty good for her right now.

Already in the opening this dance feels wrong. Brandy is lying on the floor like a dead fish and Maksim is circling around her like a hungry shark. But that dinner seems to have done the trick (did these two have a night cap?) - Brandy is super into it, though it's a little distracting to see her wear a very flappy silk sheathe with nothing but a pair of sparkly briefs and bra underneath.

Suddenly Brandy rips off Maks' shirt and throws herself on the ground before my recording dies a horrible death, but it looks like she resumes her dead fish pose. Carrie said she'd been waiting for the real Brandy and called it her comeback night. Len thought it was a little hot and spicy for his teaste.

Bret Michaels, "Riding Against the Wind" Premiere

The Wantagh appearance is one of many the singer is making on a comeback tour after recovering from a brain hemorrhage in April. Michaels, who has diabetes, also recently announced he’s scheduled for surgery early next year to repair a hole in his heart.
Bret Michaels, who underwent brain surgery just a few months ago, has not been sidelined by his health woes. The singer is back and better than ever and premiered his new video for "Riding Against the Wind." Michaels, who recently appeared buck naked and flashing "The Situation"-like abs on the cover of Billboard, opens up in this clip, allowing viewers and fans to have an intimate look into his life on the road, with his daughters and with his beloved. It also boasts shots of Michaels strumming on his guitar against a white backdrop.
Michaels' latest, Custom Built, which features "Riding Against the Wind," is out now.

The Poison rocker — who features in VH1’s Rock of Love with Bret Michaels – says TV has made him more money than he ever thought possible.
“TV has absolutely made my sales go up, made my tour guarantees go up,” he said. “TV has been a great addition to my career. But the key thing is knowing what to walk away from. I advise anyone-especially musicians-to be very careful not to just grab anything they throw your way.”Michaels then explained his decision to take part in Rock of Love.
“I thought that I have three generations of Poison fans, and this would open me up to a whole new generation,” he said.
“My fears about the show weren’t about music. I turned it down the first time they approached me, because their first idea was very retro.
“They wanted the 1986 Bret Michaels. My fans enjoyed the teased hair, the spandex. It was great, it was the time I lived in. Who knew that spandex tucked into cowboy boots would ever go out of style? But for some strange reason, it did. I’d progressed forward and I didn’t want to go back. I stood up for myself and said, “You need to let me be who I am right now in my life.”
Bret — who is scheduled to go under the knife in January to repair a hole in his heart, which has plagued him since birth — recently admitted he is struggling to “think positive” as the surgery looms closer.
“I’m going in there thinking very positively that it’s going to be great and I’m going to feel a whole lot better, but I’d be lying to say that somewhere in my subconscious there’s not a little bit of gulling,” he said.
“When they’re going through your body to operate on your heart, it’s going to hit you somewhere that they’re toying with the ticker. There’s definitely a little fear in there somewhere.”
Twenty years after peak heartthrob status, Michaels appears on the cover of Billboard Magazine clad only in his bandanna, which we're pretty sure is glued to his head at this point. His six-pack abs inspired some skeptics to accuse the mag of some pretty drastic retouching, but photographer Blair Bunting insists that he went easy on the airbrush.

The before and after pics are above. We think they just added a little bit of chiseling around his hips, and somehow made his face look older by altering the coloring.

Brandon Tate New England Patriots Randy Moss Replacement

Brandon Tate New England Patriots Randy Moss Replacement – With Randy Moss leaving the New England Patriots for the Minnesota Vikings, where will that leave their potent passing attack? Surely, the front office still thinks that the Patriots are a competitive team, and would not trade away their online deep threat if they did not feel that they had something lined up that could begin to fill that role.
I'm not exactly surprised. It's interesting because I think the Pats had a good amount of time to see the outcome of Tate and Wes Welker's knee situation. It gave them some time to see if those guys would be healthy. It’s also a good time for this team (to make this trade) because it’s during a bye week. It's a period of time where you don’t have a lot of distractions going on, where you release a big-name guy and the younger guys can still focus on the task at hand, which is football.

In my opinion, I saw this coming a lot sooner than when it happened. I saw it coming when Randy went off and had his rant. Obviously, agents talk to players, and rumors are all around the league, and I feel that Randy kind of knew about this, probably during Week 1.
On the third-round pick the Patriots got in return
Third-round compensation -- I think that's pretty legit. I think that's a pretty equal payout for Randy. Randy is obviously getting old now. Some people would argue that he’s not a complete receiver. A lot of times, teams want a receiver that blocks and catches and does all the other things that receivers do -- I know some seventh-round receivers that can be a lot more valuable than the things that Randy does. Troy Brown is one of those guys that was an eighth-round pick. As an eighth-round guy, that was very valuable. The Vikings giving up a third-round pick, I think that's pretty equal
On which Patriots receivers will benefit most from Moss' departure
When you look at Tate, I think Tate's going to have the biggest impact out of Randy Moss' departure. Look at Matthew Slater also. He’s a guy that hasn’t had a lot of playing time. He’s a very fast guy. I think his role is going to improve as well. You look at Julian Edelman, a guy who is more of a slot receiver. I think his role will improve also. You look at Wes. He may have one or two extra catches, but as a receiver corps as a whole, I think all their catches will be more productive. You can go to the tight end side. Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski, I think the two of them will have more catches, but specifically, Hernandez will be a guy that I think will go out and play some 'X.' He’ll play in the slot some as well. But the two guys I think who will have the most impact will be Tate and Hernandez.
On how the trade will impact Patriots receiver Brandon Tate
Brandon Tate's one of those guys that I used to watch a few years ago when he was in college in Carolina, and in my opinion, before he got hurt, he was a guy who could have won the Biletnikoff Award -- that’s the best receiver in college football. Brandon Tate is a very talented guy. I've watched his routes. I’ve watched his technique, his speed, the way he runs. He's a very talented guy that has obviously attained a lot of skills playing at North Carolina, so if you look at Tate in the preseason and you look at him in the first couple weeks, you can tell that he's maturing week to week. He had one fumble last week, and obviously, he made up from that this week against Miami, but he’s one of those guys who seems like he’s improving week to week. I'm very confident that he will be able to step up and be that number one-or-two guy, whichever is needed. He's more of a complete receiver, so I think he's going to help out the team a lot.

On how losing Randy Moss will affect quarterback Tom Brady
First things first, I think Tom's thinking of the younger receivers that are with the Patriots, and you know, letting these guys know that they need to continue to be productive, and they better step it up, because Randy isn't here anymore to take pressure off the other guys.

When you look at Tom and Randy's relationship together, the two of them did do great things here as Patriots, but to be honest with you, I think this may be kind of a relief, a monkey off of Tom's back at this point. It may sound funny for me to say this, but when you look at what Randy brought to the Patriots offense, being a receiver that doesn’t block at times can hurt the team. Being a guy that Tom is almost forced to have to throw to can almost hurt the team as well.

In my opinion, I feel that a monkey is almost off of Tom's back, and I think I saw that in the Miami game. It seems a little backward to say this, but it seemed that the game plan was not to throw Randy Moss the ball, and I saw the elation on Tom Brady's face every time the special teams would score.

Yes, it was a big win against Miami, on the road, but at the same time, I thought that Tom and Bill almost felt like, "What a relief, we’re winning this game without Randy." So I think this was almost planned maybe a couple of weeks in advance. I really think there's a big monkey off of Tom's back, and I can almost guarantee you that the Patriots will look like the Patriots of 2002-2005 again.
While some Patriots fans feel that it was a terrible decision to trade Randy Moss at this point in the season, former Patriots wide receiver and NESN Daily insider David Givens believes it will benefit the team.

According to Givens, this trade will allow Tom Brady to involve all of his receivers and tight ends without being forced to throw to Moss, leaving Brady a little more comfortable in the pocket.

Women Love Christina Hendricks

The 'Mad Men' beauty - who has won praise for her curvaceous figure - is reportedly being considered by the British style bible to grace their coveted front cover.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Christina has no idea what a buzz she has created with her ample curves. She has sent the fashion circuit in a tizz, particularly it seems those at Vogue HQ.
Best known for her role on the hit show ‘Mad Men’, Christina Hendricks has found out that a lot of people admire her looks. The curvy, size-4 (14???), 5-foot-8 actress has found out that not only men hit on here, but women as well. Hendricks has also found that many curvy women out there are starting to see her as a role model, as she makes looking curvy very, very sexy.
“Women hit on me. My husband thinks it’s so odd that so many women hit on me.”During a dinner with her husband, Geoffrey Arend, a woman approached and told Hendricks about how she helped to feel sexy and beautiful.“‘Excuse me, I just want to tell you that I watch your show, and you make me feel better about myself. I am a curvy woman, and you’ve made me feel sexy and beautiful.’ I got teary eyed.”
“I remember Geoffrey saying, ‘That’s what you’re doing for people. That’s amazing.’ And I said, ‘I’m just trying to be a good actress and trying to tell a story, but if this is the sidebar, all this positivity, then that is awesome.’”
As revealed on Harper’s Bazaar’s November issue, the voluptuous figure of Christina Hendricks, as affirmed by her husband catches the attention of women and even gay men.
The 35 year old Mad Men actress dishes out that gays do approach her saying, “Well, I’m not straight, but if I was…” The flattering statement makes Hendricks laugh as she is also flattered. However, the actress also admits that she has never thought about her body becoming a topic stirring conversation. She was surprised but figured out it was something positive to which she enjoyed getting good remarks from people.

Her body turned out to be a way of reaching out to people which she claims, is amazing. In the interview, she recalled how an admirer, a female thanked Christina for making her feel good and appreciate her own body. The woman was teary-eyed when she left. Upon first glance, there doesn't appear to be many similarities between Christina Hendricks and Karen Elson, oh except they both have flaming red locks. But according to the Mad Men actress, that's exactly what her and the British model have in common.

In a new interview with Harper's Bazaar US, in which she has been snapped by Terry Richardson, Hendricks makes a startling revelation that Elson copied her look. It seems during the 1990s when Hendricks was in Europe to do the modelling rounds for mags such as Dazed & Confused, she bumped into Elson.

"I was in Milan, and you would see the same girls at castings. There was one girl - she was like, 'I can't get any work. I'm so sick of this, I'm ready to quit. I love your hair color. What do you color your hair with?' and I was like, 'Oh, it's red. Here's my formula.' It was Karen Elson. A couple of weeks later, she had bright-red hair." Christina says.

The Case is Closed: Ex Played No Role in Gary Coleman's Death

A spokeswoman for the Santaquin, Utah, police confirmed to E! News that detectives have closed their probe into the former child actor's death. Investigars sided with the county coroner, who determined he died of a brain hemorrhage after a fall in his Provo-area home. And there was no foul play.
Detectives investigating the death of the Diff'rent Strokes star closed the case yesterday, siding with a county coroner's recent verdict that the actor's death, from a brain haemorrhage following a fall in May this year, was not deliberate.Actor, Gary Coleman, who passed away after slipping and falling into a coma in May this year did not die of any suspicious motives according to investigators. Gary Coleman's ex-wife, Shannon Price, who was at the scene of the crime and did not administer first aid because she 'can't stand blood' has been exonerated of murder suspicions that arose when she was accused of potentially murdering Gary over his estate. Gary Coleman's parents on the other hand are a little less easy to convince:
“If I had the dollars, I’d hire someone to take another look at the body to see if there was any blunt force trauma to the head. How did he hit his head? Why was there so much blood? I wholeheartedly believe there was foul play here. There are criminal intentions relative to Gary’s death." This exonerates his ex-wife Shannon Price, who was criticised for her reaction when she found her ex-husband's body, and made a call to emergency services where she said she hadn't attempted to administer any first aid as she can't stand blood.
Coleman's parents voiced their concerns about the circumstances surrounding their son's death following a fall at his home.
The couple's spokesperson Victor Perillo said: "If I had the dollars, I'd hire someone to take another look at the body to see if there was any blunt force trauma to the head.
"How did he hit his head? Why was there so much blood?"
Coleman's former manager Dion Mial also admitted he had suspicions about his ex-client's passing. He said at the time: "I wholeheartedly believe there was foul play here. There are criminal intentions relative to Coleman's death."
Price - who decided to turn off her former spouse's life support machine, despite him previously expressing wishes to be kept alive in such a situation - was never officially named as a suspect in the investigation into Coleman's death, but she did release a statement stating she had no involvement in his passing.
The 25-year-old - who had claimed to be on the verge of remarrying her former spouse at the time of his death - was written out of the actor's will and was forced to deny rumours she was trying to sell photos of the him on his deathbed were true.

"'Do you want to spend the rest of your life fighting a stupid addiction to a stupid thing that doesn't even really give you a good buzz?'" 'Wall Street' sequel comes up short

Wall Street icon Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas)has been in prison for eight years for money laundering, inside trading and securities fraud. During his time behind bars, what was his family has dwindled down to an estranged daughter, Winnie (Carey Mulligan) who blames him for the death of her brother and wants nothing to do with her father. It is now 2008, Gekko is free and looking to get revenge. "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps": Michael Douglas won an Oscar for his portrayal of Gordon Gekko in the 1987 "Wall Street."
Gekko has been cooling his heels in jail. He re-enters society with the overwhelming desire to heal the relationship with his estranged daughter, Winnie (Carey Mulligan). Jake (Shia LaBeouf) is a young trader whose star is rising and whose heart is thumping for Winnie. He also yearns to avenge his mentor's death (Frank Langella) whose demise was caused by Bretton James' (Josh Brolin) ruthless business practices

Gekko is well placed to mutually aid Jake while pulling together all the film's plot contrivances.Viewers expected a cutting- edge financial procedural, but instead got something more like waiting in line at the ATM. The interesting stuff is lost amid an overly long affair.
Viewers commented: "The plot never got exciting," … "An embarrassment to the original," (many) … "Very slow," (many) … "Didn't have any anger that should have been pointed at corporations," (many) and "Bland. Nothing special."
"Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole": Based on the books by Kathryn Lasky, this animated children's epic tells of the young owl Soren (Jim Sturgess), who longs to live in his father's stories of owl warriors fighting against the evil Pure Ones.
An incident with his bother Kludd (Anthony LaPaglia) finds Soren searching with other brave owls for the Great Tree and saving the kingdom. This is only an average children's adventure (73 percent approval).

"You Again": In this "getting the lovers to the altar" construction, the building materials arrive early.
Marni (Kristen Bell) learns that her brother (James Wolk) is going to marry Joanna (Odette Yustman) who 10 years earlier was her bitter high school nemesis when she was a nerd and not the successful PR person she is today.Joanna's aunt (Sigourney Weaver), we come to find out, was the bitter high school rival of Marni's mom (Jamie Lee Curtis). Reliable grout for the comedy material is provided by the popular resurgence of Betty White whose observations glue together machinations of the warring tribes.
Kristen Chenoweth stands out as the wedding planner. This talent mixture should have produced something better than a disappointing 59 percent approval.

Viewers said: "Instead of being funny, they were annoying," … "I thought Betty White would make it funny, but she didn't help at all," (many) … "Enjoyable. Not as bad as the critics said it was," … "The critics were right, it's awful," and "Funny in parts."

"The Virginity Hit": This crass mockumentary follows the videotaping of four friends and their march to strip one of their ranks of his virginity. Some adolescent potty humor films, like "American Pie" or "Superbad" can be comforting because their filth feels sincere. "Virginity Hit" works too hard at being vulgar and misogynistic, discarding its sense of playfulness along the way.
Moviegoers reflected: "Terrible. The characters weren't the slightest bit funny," (many) … "That was sad," and "Usually I like these films but this one was just no good."
"Lovely, Still": Martin Landau and Ellen Burstyn, two Academy Award winners, star in a little film from director/writer Nik Fackler, whose gentle lighthearted romance becomes a noteworthy drama. The couple awkwardly sorts out their long forgotten dating schema in the gentle romance portion of the film. 'Dyslexia runs in the family, even my brother has it. My son goes to a special school. We're old-fashioned parents, our kids have got British nannies and we get nice compliments from people. Our children make us proud,' contactmusic.com quoted Douglas as saying.
'We just want them (kids) to be good citizens of the planet. They're not spoiled or obnoxious. They're well-mannered, confident, pretty worldly,' he added.

Katherine Heigl Smoke Sticks

Movie queen Katherine Heigl smoked one. Now other alternative-seeking tobacco addicts want one. We have the lowdown on the e-cigarette: where you can get it, what you should expect to pay, what you should consider -- and why it'll save you money over regular cigarettes. Electronic cigarettes are apparently the latest trendy gadgets for smokers trying to quit. The official brand name for one is SmokeStik, and according to the Web site for the product, it works by recreating the entire smoking experience, including an exhaled “smoke-like vapor,” so would-be quitters do not feel as though they are missing out on their cigarette breaks. Apparently the SmokeStik (or eCig) contains no tobacco or tar and is free of over 400 other chemicals in traditional cigarettes that are known to cause cancer. It is also produces no ashes or stubs.

Katherine Heigl’s personal and professional lives collided while making her new romantic comedy “Life as We Know It.”
“I literally became a mother four days before filming began so the whole process of filming and my personal life it’s all on camera,” the actress, who adopted her daughter Naleigh with husband Josh Kelley in September 2009, told Access Hollywood Thursday night at the film’s New York premiere.
The e-cigarette industry has been expecting you. Since Heigl "lit up" her electronic cigarette on The Late Show with David Letterman, visits to e-cigarettedirect.com, which sells the Veppo brand, have increased by 10%, said Keith King, vice president of sales and marketing.Electronic cigarettes are battery-operated, tobacco-free cigarettes that allow users to inhale vapor either with or without nicotine. The vapor is free from tar, carbon monoxide "and hundreds of carcinogens that are found in regular cigarettes," said the e-cigarettedirect.com site copy.
E-cigs are being marketed by many as healthier, odorless alternatives to cigarettes, though few will make an official claim that it helps kick the habit. "I cannot say it's a quitting device," King told WalletPop, though "customers have used it as such."
We don't want to be the buzz kill, but the FDA has tested e-cigarette samples and found that they contained carcinogens and diethylene glycol, an antifreeze element. It is legal to smoke them in public spaces, although some states are reportedly pondering a ban.
Starter kits online generally range from $50 to $140. They usually include an e-cigarette, cartridges that contain the flavor and desired nicotine level, rechargeable batteries and a charger. Among the brands with search-engine popularity are V2, which offers an economy kit for $59.95 "to start upgrading your health" and standard kit for $74.95. ECigarette was one of the few we found that sells only nicotine-free e-cigs, beginning at $129 for the whole package. Dieter Fiebig, founder of ECigarettesUSA.com, wrote on the company website that his wife died of lung cancer at age 41 and perhaps she would have had a different future had she switched to a nicotine-free e-cigarette.
Whatever brand you choose, you can bet the Marlboro Man that you will save money. King used Veppo as an example. The $100 kit delivers the equivalent of 30 packs of cigarettes, he said. That's a little more than $3 a pack. From then on, consumers only need the e-liquid refills, which cost $28.99 and provide another 30 packs' worth. That's less than a dollar a pack. Either scenario amounts to far less than the $6 to $7 a pack cigarettes cost. Veppo also sells a disposable e-cigarette ($13.99) that contains the equivalent of 30 cigarettes. E-cigarettes are sold in stores, too; most manufacturers produce e-cigars as well.
E-cigarette makers are hoping they can exhale at some point after health officials give the product their full attention. Perhaps then could the industry convey a more certain message about the benefits. With the FDA watching like a grandmother ready to scold, the industry is performing a delicate marketing dance. Are e-cigs a lesser evil, healthier alternative or a life-saver? Nobody is saying for sure. Nobody is allowed to say for sure.
At least the e-cigarette already has an unofficial spokeswoman. Heigl, the former Grey's Anatomy regular who now specializes in big-screen romantic comedies from Knocked Up to the upcoming Life as We Know It (Oct. 8), told Letterman as she dragged on her SmokeStik that she tried cold-turkey, the patch, the gum and a drug called Chantix. None of them took.
I was watching an interview clip of Katherine Heigl appearing on the David Letterman show when she got to talking about the trials of giving up smoking. After listing the usual things such as patches and prescription drugs, she pulled out a curious contraption describing it as "an electronic cigarette".
I was convinced it was a joke, but after further investigation I discovered that this is indeed a legitimate invention that uses a battery to heat up liquid nicotine and allows the user to breathe in and out something that looks like smoke. Actually, though, it's harmless water vapour and has been proven to be safer for the user and those around them than tobacco.
